Your search committee has hosted visits from four outstanding candidates and their spouses. Our visits have included, in part, discussions about theology, parish administration, and pastoral care. We have spent time together in conversation, worship, and fellowship. Our aim is to discern God's call for the next rector of St. John's. The congregational conversations yielded an interest in preaching, administration, and pastoral care. Your search committee aims to honor those areas while discerning the call for the next rector of St. John's.
While the current diocesan model for discernment is to invite candidates to visit St. John's, the committee has responded to feedback and to its own needs for additional discernment by conducting visits to the parishes of our final four candidates. Those visits will conclude in early July and the search committee will present two names to the vestry for further discernment. Please hold our candidates, their families, and their congregations in your prayers, along with the search committee and the vestry. We give thanks also for the sustaining ministry of our interim rector, the Rev. David Hackett, and for our associate priests, the Rev. Robert Marshall and the Rev. Diane Vie.
