Adult Christian formation at St. John’s takes place in a variety of forms from presentations at our Sunday forums to weekly book studies. We invite you to jump in!
Adult Sunday School
Sundays 9:30 - 10:15 AM
We offer three options for adult formation. One group meets in Magill Hall for plenary sessions on a variety of topics. A second group meets in the chapel for dialogical learning. A third group meets in the library for Bible Study based on the lectionary readings for the day.

C.S. Lewis’ Letters to Malcolm, an exploration of prayer (October through Advent), 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. in Magill Hall
On the Road Again: From Eden to the New Jerusalem, (Epiphany Sunday, January 6th through Lent), 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. in Magill Hall. A study series facilitated by St. John’s member and retired art history professor Bill McIntosh. From Bill McIntosh’s introduction we get this description, “Whether notional or actual, exploratory or punitive, penitential or recreational, directed or aimless, intentional or accidental, &c., &c., the journey qua journey is a defining element of the human experience… Some works of fine art will have a place in this series; music as well .”

Women’s Book Study
10:00 AM Thursdays: Library
Women invited to meet weekly to engage together in discussion about a book focused on a theological theme. The group chooses books by consensus. Join this group to be fed in your mind, body and spirit!
Wednesday Noon Day Prayer and Healing
Wednesdays at 12:10 pm; St. John’s Chapel, an abbreviated Eucharist service for midweek inspiration and sustenance.
Thursdays 5:30pm- 6:00pm; St. John’s Chapel
Centering Prayer follows a Contemplative Reading prompt. Brief reflection concludes the experience.
