MISSIONS AND OUTREACH

WAYS ST. JOHN’S SERVES

Hands-On, Local Service

We support many local missions including our Lynchburg Grows Greenhouse, Lynchburg Daily Bread, Habitat for Humanity, Lynchburg Boys Home, Miriam’s House, Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous, Meals on Wheels and more!

Our Outreach Committee meets quarterly and plans parish-wide service events, as well as ongoing opportunities for service and growth. Please connect with us on social media and pay attention to our weekly update and newsletters to find out about current opportunities!

For more information about Outreach Committee and their work, contact Chair Cathy Dalton or Fr. Ben.

Missions, Locally and Globally

St. John’s has a long history of doing mission work nearby and afar. Our Youth group takes annual mission trips, and we partner with our Diocesan ministry at Grace House on the Mountain for service trips in Appalachia. We also respond to national and global crisis through Episcopal Relief and Development.

Service is the heart and soul of who we are as members of God’s holy family, and we search constantly for opportunities that will allow every age group to work side-by-side as we reach out to serve Christ in the world. Although money sometimes is what is most needed, whenever possible we strive to make Outreach a gift of time and skills in a hands-on partnership. We believe healthy relationships with God and each other changes lives.
